Residential Complete Exterior Renovation | Canton, Massachusetts
This residential complete exterior renovation consisted of installing new roofing, siding, windows, entry doors, and a skylight. In addition, we also were responsible for demoing and reframing an exterior wall. Furthermore, they also had us resurface two existing decks with new PVC and Composite decking boards.
Project Overview
Roof Replacement and Skylight Installation
First, the most important thing on these homeowners’ minds was finding an affordable roofing company to replace their outdated roofing system. After reviewing roof replacement options, these homeowners expressed interest in a great warranty and a durable shingle.
Specifically, this complete roofing replacement consisted of installing CertainTeed’s Landmark Pro Architectural Shingles and Integrity Roofing System. CertainTeed manufactures Integrity Roofing System products to help ensure your roof system performs to the highest level. Namely, these products are ice and water, underlayment, and other accessories. As a result, installing these roof materials will provide homeowners with a SureStart PLUS extended warranty. Additionally, the warranty takes the traditional SureStart protection and extends CertainTeed’s full coverage for 50 years. In addition to the roof replacement, our crew installed a Velux fixed Skylight, lead flashing, and new roof vents.

Home Siding Installation
Immediately after the roofing installation was complete, these homeowners decided to move forward with replacing their old wood siding. Replacing the wood siding was essential for this residential complete exterior renovation due to excessive rot damage. As a result of the rot damage, they wanted a siding product that’s maintenance-free, durable, and long-lasting. After going over various vinyl siding colors and styles, these homeowners decided to go with CertainTeed vinyl siding.
Unfortunately, after stripping the clapboard wood siding, we exposed significant rot of the sheathing and structural supports. As a solution, our framing crew began demoing the rotten sections of the exterior walls. Then we started installing new sills, headers, and studs. After repairing the wood rot, our siding crew installed house wrap and aluminum coverage on trim, fascia, and rakes. Lastly, we prepped the home with all siding accessories and began the vinyl siding installation. The color and type of vinyl siding chosen was CertainTeed Monogram Midnight Blue D4 siding.
Home Window Replacement and Installation
Next, for this residential complete exterior renovation was the installation of new vinyl replacement windows. The existing windows were Caradco wood windows that began to show signs of failure and deterioration. After looking over different window companies to find the best replacement windows, these homeowners choose Harvey Classic double-hung windows. Specifically, these vinyl windows boast a clean exterior and interior profile while offering a durable product and industry-standard warranty. Unfortunately, our window installers experienced more rot damage along the sills during the installation. After replacing the rot, our crew finished this project phase, installing eight windows.
Deck Resurfacing
In addition, the homeowners had us resurface two decks in the front and back of the home. After speaking with our salesman, these homeowners expressed the importance of a decking solution that would be maintenance-free. As a result, we advised the homeowners that the best option was resurfacing the existing deck with composite. Composite decking boards are durable and perform to withstand the constant foot traffic and abuse that is frequent with any entryway or patio space. Specifically, our crews installed AZEK Brownstone composite decking boards and new PVC skirting. In addition to the composite decking boards, we also installed new vinyl railings with black round balusters.
Door Replacement
Lastly, we began the exterior door replacement. Unfortunately, this part of the project was not planned and was an additional part of this residential complete exterior renovation. Specifically, the door we were replacing was the back patio door. This back door was part of the wall system replaced due to the extensive rot damage mentioned above. After going over different types of doors, these homeowners chose to install a french patio door. These are hinged patio doors, separate from the standard sliding patio door that is more common.
